Health and Safety

B & J Catalano values the health and safety of employees, customers, contractors and visitors and will not compromise safety for production.

B & J Catalano operates an extensive safety management system and is a holder of a WorkSafe Plan Silver level accreditation. The company is currently working towards Gold level and AS/NZS 4801 accreditation. Catalano’s stands by its solid, but always improving, safety record. 

The Company complies with legislative requirements and in order to meet the employer duty of care responsibilities, Catalano’s identifies, assesses and manages hazards and risks which may impact upon its operations.

B & J Catalano requires employees to comply with the Fitness for Work Policy. This requires employees to present to work in a fit state. Involved are a number of monitoring programmes for drugs and alcohol and the control of working hours to prevent fatigue.

Continuous improvement practices are promoted and actions taken to ensure that the safety objectives of the Company are achieved.

The maintenance of training and the high level of competence of all employees is encouraged and supported.

Environmental Responsibility

B & J Catalano prides itself on recognising the values and quality of the environment where it carries out its projects. To this end they have a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan.

Environmental management is taken into account with all aspects of Catalano’s activities and is conducted in accordance with required legislation.

We will minimise any impact on the environment at all of our operational sites.

The Company is also currently looking into a number of options in the areas of waste management and renewable energy. 

Fuel management systems are comprehensive to ensure no detrimental effect to the environment. A state of the art fleet is employed and comprehensive response procedures are in place for hydrocarbon management.

The company is currently working towards accreditation to AS/NZS ISO 14001.

Quality Standard

B & J Catalano are developing and implementing a quality standard to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements.

The Company recognises that its customers play a significant role in defining the requirements of this standard.

B & J Catalano encourages continual improvement of the quality management system to ensure the link between customer satisfaction and business effectiveness is maintained.

Obtaining accreditation to AS/NZS ISO 9001 is our aim and eventual integration with AS/NZS 4801 and AS/NZS ISO will ensure a comprehensive management system will be developed.

Social Responsibility

Catalano’s Directors and management team recognise the importance of being a good corporate citizen and, as such, they contribute to a number of very worthy causes within the communities in which they operate.  These include substantial annual donations to:
